In 2003, he studied at Medical Faculty of Istanbul University Pediatric Department and Pediatric Allergy and Pulmonology, then in 2008, he became Pediatric Allergy Specialist. In 2012, he became Pediatric Immunology and Allergic Diseases Specialist then he became Pediatric Pulmonologist in 2013. He became Associate Professor in 2007,and became professor in 2014.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akcay, who worked at Liv Hospital Pediatric Allergy and Pulmonology Department between 2013-2016, aimed to be an address for diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases and asthma in Turkey by founding Istanbul Allergy in March 2016.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akcay has been in the universities and clinics in Cincinnati, in America and has found chance to follow the latest allergy developments. He aims to attend allergy clinics on abroad and bring innovation about allergy to Turkey.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akcay worked as A Visiting Medical Scientist at Pediatric Allergy and Immunology Department of Cincinnati Children Hospital which is one of the best three hospitals of America. Prof. Ahmet Akcay, working together with Prof. Amal Assad, MD, the head of the medical clinic, had experience about new methods in diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases and asthma. During his exploration,he also has experience the methods, used in America, about food allergy, challenge test, immunotherapy, eczema and drug allergy.
While he was in USA, he had a chance to work in Bernstein Allergy and worked with Prof. Jonathan Bernstein, MD, the editor of Journal of Asthma, so he hold a view about the working methods of allergic clinics in USA.
Prof. Ahmet Akçay worked at Family Allergy clinic and had chance to learn how to approach allergic diseases and working systems of allergy clinics.
He attended 4 day long a bronchoscopy course organized by Prof. Robert Wood, MD, world’s leading Pediatric Pulmonologist and Pediatric Pulmonology Department of Cincinnati Children Hospital.
